I saw and didn't buy it on Ebay. Volume 16

It's been a few years since I stopped buying stuff on Ebay, just yesterday, while chatting with Sakky, we discovered I have no idea of how much things cost anymore. oO!! Every new find now is pretty much an "I Saw it and didn't But it" entry. HAHa!

My collection consists mostly of Sailor Moon Dolls (ONLY Usagi), occasionally other Senshi ones too, but I pretty much already have most of the dolls I want. Rare stuff and hard to find collectibles are interesting, and I'm particularly obsessed with the Rainbow Moon Heart Attack Figure which is at the top of my "Most Wanted" list. Since it almost never appears on Ebay, I have taken my browsing to Y! Japan. Wow. There are things on that site I never knew they existed!! SO-MUCH-FUN! :D! So today's post is about this SM camera! SOOO adorable!! Pink! The cats in chibi are so cute! It is 100% official as you can see by the box design and the Toei Sticker!!

I still don't buy much, but finding these is like discovering a hidden treasure!!  I don't think I could use this one, it's just too purty to risk it falling or getting wet. HAha! Was about 50~80 dlls... I think.

SM Room of Doom Volume 8

Time for another super awesome "Sailor Moon Room of Doom!" It says volume 8 but I think this is barely the fourth room we've seen. HAha! These posts are really enjoyable for me, it's awesome to look at other Moonies' collections, to compare with what we have, seeing if they have any rare items, or any custom made dolls, and sometimes just to learn a bit how they organize their stuff or simply to admire the texture and colors that SM products produce. *0*!!

I normally look for and post about rooms with Sailor Moon toys ONLY, however, this room all mixed up with several different anime articles, has managed to achieve an exact balance with SM plushies and posters.  Some of us like dolls, some like RP toys, some enjoy figures, but Julie (aka Chibichibiusa) is all about teh plushies, and they're AWESOME!! I don't think she's missing a single one (well, maybe the Irwin ones but apparently she only collects Japanese stuff). She also has some gashapon and magnets around. Also, I love dollfies, but that hobby is just way too expensive, so I'm pretty impressed at the quantity of dolls in this room, although in these specific pics you can hardly see them.

Aggghhh!! She even has the whole the keychain plushie set!! And the bendy plushie dolls! (You have to head over to the original post to find them). I kind of like seeing ChibiChibiUsa's collection, looking at so many of them together gives it like a cushiony, warm, inviting feeling doesn't it? It makes me happy, I'm not even envious of her. Happy place! XD! Unless you're this, like, grinch type person who hates colors, cuteness and sparkles in which case I might add: "WTF are you doing here, anyway?"

Pictures are from Figure.fm. Their original post and more pictures of Julie's room can be found HERE.

If you're interested in her dollfie collection, you can find more pictures on her Flickr account. I encourage you to look at her gallery, they're all adorable, and she even has a totally awesome Sailor Saturn dollfie that made my jaw drop to the floor. This doll is obviously larger than any Barbie sized one, so her Sailor fuku had to be custom made and the results are very interesting. Just take a look at the glove, it is breathtaking.

The Moonie mecha!?

*Phone Ring* Prrrrrrr.....  Prrrrrrr.....  Prrrrrrr.....

-Hello?

-O hai Gundam, it's Cycyn.

-O hai Cycyn. Whatup?

-Not much, I was browsing through the
guNjap blog and I found your line of Gundams.

-Oh! That's awesome! You like?

-Meh, I think a mechabot can only take so many
extra adornments 'till it starts looking girly.

-WHAT?! GIRLY?! GUNDAM IS THE
MANLIEST man thing since the invention of
men. It can totally own Chuck Norris, Snake
and the Predator while banging Megan Fox.
Old Spice Guy is a sissy next to Gundam.

-So what are you saying? That THIS is NOT
so over the top additions that looks kinda like a
perfectly adorable angelic figure?

-.................

- Srsly, I would totally give it to my auntie Emma
who collects Angelic Christmas tree toppers.

-.... it's 3 a.m. Cycyn, What do you want?

-Well, it's about your Nobell Gundam design.

-What about it?

-It's kinda Moonie. Plus, since when does a robot NEED
to have a skirt and bow, and OMG, HAIR? It's like,
why would a car need to have extra handles or steel wings
just to show a girl drives it? Maybe the occasional pink
stirring wheel cover, or Hello Kitty stickers on the rear
bumper, y'know...................hello?.... HELLO?!

We are pretty aware that SM is *not* the only Japanese anime that features uniformed girls. School uniforms are part of their everyday life, it's only normal that it reflects onto their series and dramas (although if you ask me, using uniform wasn't something that marked me so much that I would center all my heroines around it). The whole premise of the series is a group of schoolgirls fighting evil in a sexier version of their school uniforms and being totally AWESOME while doing so. Over and over we see the theme repeated. It has even spread into the western pop-culture! (Gogo Yubari anyone?)

Now I'm not saying SM influenced this, it's just part of their culture. Having said all the previous, Gundam can't just pull one of these and NOT expect us to consider it Moonie or in this case, Sailor V-y... I mean, c'mon! They're not just similar, I really believe they're trying to be evocative.

So this brings me to the following conclusion: Gundam is girly. XD

A whole new level of cute!

Hi-res version of this wallpaper available HERE.

OMG OMG OMG!!! You guys will NEVER guess what this is. Okay, you'll totally know right the instant you see the pics but I want to say it! I wanna to say it! Let me tell you! Lemme tell you!! I WANT TO BE THE ONE to tell you!!! okay, okay, okay, okay. x3 It's....

A Sailor Moon BATHING SUIT...
with a SWIMMING CAP!!

This is by no means the first time we've seen a Sailor Moon bathing suit, but the cap takes this set to a whole new level of cute! Even if you look carefully, all the details are there: Two lockets, the beads of the hair, layered sleeves, etc. Its even better than some cosplayers! And no, I didn't miss the back bow, I know it should be longer, but we don't want the kiddies getting their feet tangled while swimming, right?

Sadly, summer is over and we won't be able to get this set at our local Wal-mart any time soon, but we can stare at these and continue to marvel at the ever-impressive Japanese creativity!

Speed Fanart.

As you know, the SMObss is all about the fanart. As a fan artist myself, I constantly search for other artists' work, looking at the different approaches and taking note of their rendering. Sailor Moon was so huge in the general anime fandom that even though some illustrators aren't "active Moonies" anymore, they always feel inspired by the suited girl figure they grew up with and make tribute to her, each one with their own developed style and coloring technique. I also find it fascinating how they do (or don't) decide to stop at the details; as we know, Naoko got a bit carried away with all the little jewels on tiaras, crowns, earrings, chokers, gloves, bows, etc. It's fascinating to see how artists decide to either skip them or go overboard by adding more elements.

Whatever the approach, they're all fun to look at. Today I went "speed art hunting". They call it speed art because the video itself was sped up x10~x100 but they actually take hours and hours. Also, I've lately had this thing for joining in at Sakky's live chats, when she's drawing, sewing, painting or modeling. That's a great inspiration as well!

Granted, I could be working on my own stuff, but watching someone else produce work gives me goosebumps... not the bad kind, but the good kind, the pleasurable kind.

The point being: I like to watch... not in THAT way, you dirty, dirty Moonie.

So yes, I decided to jump in the wagon and try this speed art thing too. I epicly used my iPhone to record since my webcam is built into the Mac (#fail) and the phone was slipping off the shelf where I put it (#doublefail), which means that towards the end of the video, the upper part of the drawing won't be visible anymore. I posted this video already to the SMObss Tumblr account, but its a good idea to share it here too. Not that I want it to be compared to these other masterpieces... actually these aren't meant to be compared...y'know just to keep vids all togeth--I'm pretty talkative today, I'll shut up nao.

Will someone please tell the other artists to TONE DOWN THE AWESOMENESS?!? They're making me look lame... XD!!!!

DIY Moonie repairs.

Hello all!!

Our fellow Moonie Sakky is all kinds of interesting. We know this. We know of her incredible contributions to the Sailor Moon fandom world (o hai CYOOS, Senshi stock, Sailor Astera, Anime Plushie and Sailor Astera artwork!) but we didn't know she is a fixtress too!! (OMG! Don't you just LOVE my new word?!)

Let me begin with the statement that Sailor Moon toys are the Holy Grail of any Moonie since the anime toys have been out production for at least ten years, so when I say that the Holy Grail is the Holy Grail of Holy Grails, I MEAN IT. Well, what I actually mean is the Rainbow Moon Chalice (aka Holy Grail) is, next to the Stallion Reve, one of the most sought out articles in the Moon fandom. The price always ends up in the high three hundreds when it rarely appears on Ebay auctions and of course we can no longer even dream to find it in the ordinary marketplace.

So, owning one in the first place is like, just totally beyond awesome. Now lets say you're not a NRFB collector, you love to display your stuff and smile every time you walk into your treasure room. Well, obviously the Rainbow Moon Chalice would be one of the most important items to display, AMIRIGHT!? What happens then? Well, light. Light happens. Consequently, light damage.

Worry not, my dear obsessionistas!! Sakky to the rescue! She has brought us the solution! If you own a light damaged plastic toy, just fix it!

I decided to take the image and paste it because I hate the DevArt embed code. You can find the original post here so you can look at it up close, fave it, pass it around and what not.

Well, that looks easy!

I applaud Sakky.

I am thoroughly impressed by her, always have been, (plz note heavily Sakky influenced SM work here, here and here). However, if I were faced with this situation, I wouldn't be able to do what she did. I'd just stare in terror and look for a dry pair of pants. I have this crazy notion that toys are untouchable, like the naughty feeling you get when you know the warranty on an electronic appliance will no longer be valid once you remove the hood. You know what I mean? It's totally not the same thing, this is just a plastic toy, but I'm just not that brave.

Anyway, thank you for this super useful Moonie information Sakky! It shed new light (see what I did there?) on one of the problems collectors might face and how that fixing it ourselves isn't a big deal, plus, it looks SO MUCH PRETTIER NOW! x333!!
